Christian Alliance International School (CAIS), a non-profit making company wholly owned by the Kowloon Tong Church of the Chinese Christian and Missionary Alliance, invites applications for the position of CAIS Chaplain. Role of CAIS ChaplainThe CAIS Chaplain is committed to the school’s vision, mission and values and, with the Senior Leaders, is responsible for developing the spiritual formation of staff, students, parents and the various internal and external ministries of Christian Alliance International School. This includes liaison with the KTAC Churches on campus. Report to:Head of SchoolPrincipal of Primary SchoolPrincipal of High SchoolReligious Subcom (RMC) – a member of this subcommittee
Duties and Responsibilities
Encourage growth of faith within the community Act as a reference point for students, staff and other members of the school community on religious and spiritual issues Convene the committee organizing Easter and Christmas Worship Services and to be an active participant in the Service Co-plan the spiritual component of the High School Gospel Camp with the High School Senior Leadership Team Advise on the whole of school worship program working alongside Senior Leaders, and teachers involved in outreach worship activities Be a public spiritual presence at whole school events and services. Regularly lead staff devotions including key devotions at start of year/ term. Be involved with parent support group Assist Senior Leaders in organising speakers for Chapels and at times, lead chapels Work with local youth pastors and Christian Organisations and ministries to interact with students in a variety of ways Convene a group aimed at fostering spiritual growth within the staff Actively promote and assist with Christian Groups on campus Provide as appropriate spiritual input for students dealing with grief, loss, identity Assist with developing and maintaining relationships between peers and colleagues Provide encouragement and support for an individual’s spiritual life Have a support network that can be used for referral for issues that are outside the CAIS Chaplain's areas of expertise Attend, where practical, relevant Chaplaincy network meetings and conferences Be involved with critical incident response and critical incident debriefing and counselling at both personal and community levels as appropriate Lead staff devotions as called upon Attend meetings and functions as required Participate in a range of extra-curricular school activities relevant to worship and outreach Participate in the School’s professional development programmes Achieve key target goals as outlined in the Strategic Plan or Annual Education Plans
Qualifications and Experience
The appointee must hold a theological degree from an accredited institution or show extensive experience relevant to this role. Demonstrated experience in establishing pastoral relationships with young people and their caregivers. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues effecting young people in their personal and academic lives. Maturity and integrity of faith and ability to engage in discussion with people of varying levels of faith and beliefs.
