Primary

Our mission is to cultivate learners who embody knowledge, skills, integrity, and discernment, growing in love for God and a service-oriented mindset. While we value academic achievement; we believe education is about shaping the whole child—head, heart, and hands.

HEAD
We prioritize a sharp intellect rooted in biblical truths and academic excellence. The “head” symbolizes the importance of knowledge, encouraging students to think critically and develop a lifelong love for learning. The Alberta curriculum challenges young learners and fosters curiosity, equipping them with essential skills for an ever-changing world. We emphasize that knowledge must be paired with wisdom, guiding students to make decisions that honour God.

HEART
The “heart” represents the emotional and spiritual growth of our students. We nurture a soft heart toward God, fostering a deep personal relationship with Him. Students learn about their identity in Christ—that they are loved and created for a purpose. By integrating God's word into everything they learn, they develop a sense of empathy and a commitment to caring for others, recognizing their call to make a difference in the world.

HANDS
The “hands” symbolize action and the call to serve. We believe that true learning is expressed through meaningful service. Our community initiatives, like beach clean-up days and donating goods to those in need, empower students to use their skills to make a positive impact. This hands-on approach instills responsibility and nurtures a desire to live out their faith through action, encouraging them to contribute to their communities.

In partnership with families and the community, CAIS is dedicated to guiding the next generation on their journey of faith and learning, equipping them to make a meaningful difference in the world and for Christ.

We aim to instill a foundation of God's love in everything children see, hear, touch, and speak. Young learners are naturally curious and eager to explore, so we provide experiences that nurture a thirst for knowledge and godliness. We emphasize the importance of moral values and believe in each child's holistic development. Through interactions, activities, and purposeful play, children explore their environment, expanding their knowledge and acquiring new skills.

Our Preparatory Team understands that parents are the child's first teachers and welcomes parental participation. The more involved you are in your child's learning, the greater their success in school. We look forward to collaborating with you to help your child reach their God-given potential!

Preparatory, Grades 1, 2, and 3 are crucial years for future learning success. We understand the importance of developmental stages during these formative years and design learning activities to meet students' spiritual, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs.

Our Lower Primary teaching team fosters a safe environment for learners in their homeroom classes. The school promotes Small Learning Communities, with group learning zones located near classrooms in the primary wing, creating an interactive learning atmosphere. A strong teacher-student ratio enables us to cater to individual interests and needs, providing the instruction necessary for students to reach their potential across various subjects.

Students in Grades 1, 2, and 3 participate in several Alberta-mandated assessments. The first two are Numeracy and Literacy Screening Assessments, designed to determine student levels and identify at-risk learners. These brief, one-on-one evaluations are conducted by the class teacher and do not require prior study.

As students grow in maturity and self-awareness during the Upper Primary years, we encourage and challenge them to think beyond themselves in response to God's love for us. The successes we achieve in life extend beyond our individual experiences; we are called to use our skills and gifts to make a meaningful impact and be a blessing to others, as God intended. This development fosters leadership skills and helps students recognize their potential to serve and positively influence their peers and the wider community. Our emphasis is on a holistic approach that nurtures both their academic abilities and character, inspiring them to become leaders who uplift and serve those around them.

A highlight of the Upper Primary experience is the overnight camps, which last 1-2 nights, depending on grade level. These camps emphasize character building and teamwork, providing students with valuable opportunities for personal growth and collaboration.

Another significant event is STEAM Night (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics), where students gain insight into the lives of scientists and engineers. They engage in experiments, showcase their discoveries, and present their findings to parents and peers, further enhancing their learning experience and fostering a love for inquiry and innovation.
