Student Support Services
At CAIS, we provide multidisciplinary services because every one of our students is created imago dei—made in the image of God—and we believe that each one is given unique gifts and talents that they can use to glorify God and serve others.
To this end, we employ expertly trained, qualified, and experienced learning support teachers and assistants, English language learning teachers and assistants, learning and behavioral specialists, guidance counsellors, academic counsellors, and an educational psychologist.
We will collaborate closely with parents, teachers, school leaders, and appropriate external professionals to meet the various needs of each developing child as they mature and unlock a school life full of academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth.
ACADEMIC & CAREERS COUNSELLING
Our academic and careers counsellors work in our bespoke centre, Room 332, and provide individualized advice, guidance, support, and a wide variety of opportunities for students and parents to meet university representatives and career professionals from Hong Kong and around the world.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING
Our ELL team provides a wide variety of support for student success, aiming for in-class, push-in support with additional resources provided outside of class time. Through collaborative work with classroom teachers, all students can access learning tasks, and the language required to perform appropriately, through a scaffolded approach that is designed for each student. ELL support is available for all students, and targeted for those who will most benefit from customized learning structures.
GUIDANCE COUNSELLING
Our primary school and high school counsellors are specialists in school guidance and counselling, social work, and behavioural therapy. They work collaboratively with students, parents, and teachers to ensure that students have timely support and access to all the resources that they need to thrive in all areas of their school life.
Learning Support
CAIS provides services for students with mild to moderate special learning needs. With Learning Support teachers and assistants who design support to bridge student learning gaps in the regular classroom, our students are able to function in and profit from the regular classroom environment and curriculum.
Our Learning Support specialists follow a collaborative model based on early intervention, prevention and best practices in remediation. Students who have been identified with special learning needs are provided a continuum of supportive services differentiated to meet individual needs. Learning Support Specialists provide consultation, collaborative planning, team teaching and small group instruction as well as individual remediation using supplemental curriculum materials. Parents and teachers are consulted as we develop each program to meet individual student needs.
